Getting the Train to Algiers or taking the Car

Catching the train to Algiers is one of the easiest ways to get around. For those who are familiar with Algiers, driving to the capital can be 30 minutes to 2 hours. Every rendezvous arrangement comes with a general clause of “depending on traffic”. To get on the train, at times, makes life easier.

One of my many missions from last year was to get out more with the kids. Jardin D’Essai, the botanical gardens, the Museums and Galleries in Algiers were calling out for us to explore.

Only once did we get on the wrong train heading back. When we realised it to be incorrect, we quickly jumped ship. Fortunately, we worked out we were close to my sister-in-law’s house and could walk around the corner and wait to be picked up.

Every time the kids and I head out on our own, it’s a bit of an adventure to see where we will end up. Even so, things always turn out fine despite a wrong turn, the wrong train or the wrong bus.

What’s Next

In spite of this our public transport adventures are far from over. There are plenty of things on our very long list. I’m itching to try a long train ride, the metro and the tram one day.
